My Residence and CPR cards. Note: all important info has been blurred out |
I will say that the Danish health care system is definitely not perfect (especially with mental health care). However, it's leaps above what I am used to from home. I recently received my residence and CPR cards, which provide me with free health insurance while I'm here. Let's hope that I stay healthy, but it's a remarkable thing.
Reason #21: Birthdays! Today was Kasper's 14th birthday and I got to see Danish birthday traditions first hand. There will be a separate post about the day coming later tonight or tomorrow, but I will just briefly say that Danes know the best ways to celebrate. There were 21 family members and close friends in our home today, and we spent the day eating, talking, playing, and celebrating. SO much fun to have everyone together. It really emphasized all the right things.
Reason #22: The Round Tower! For 25DKK (~$5), you can take a journey up a 686 foot long spiral ramp to the top of the Round Tower, which offers views of the entire city of CPH from 114 feet above street level. From the top of the tower you can see the beauty of the rooftops, the churches, the colors of the buildings, the wind turbines, and even make out some tiny bicyclists on the streets below. The tower itself has a rich history (which you can learn more about if you look back at a previous post about my trip there with Emily).
